A bridge is a prosthesis whereby a healthy tooth is used to hold a prosthetic tooth in place of a gap. Using a bridge to fill a gap made by a missing tooth can improve the aesthetic appearance and biting function of your remaining natural teeth.
“Bonded” and “cantilever” are the most commonly used bridges in dentistry.
A bonded bridge uses a faux tooth (usually made of porcelain) and a crown attached to a healthy tooth/teeth beside it. With a cantilever or winged bridge, a false tooth is attached to the metal wing that is bonded behind an adjacent healthy tooth.
Choosing a bridge as a treatment for missing teeth has several advantages:
We will work with you over two visits in order to complete your bridge. If necessary, your dentist will carefully shape your existing teeth as well as conduct intraoral scans of your teeth in the first appointment. A second appointment is for fitting the bridge and ensuring your satisfaction with your new smile.
As always, you will be treated with care and courtesy by our attentive team, and your comfort will be at the forefront of our minds.
